Abstract

This study uses the Environmental Factors concept from the European Commission to examine how media literacy has grown among Palembang City residents. The method used in this research is a case study by conducting in-depth interviews with relevant stakeholders, including educators, lecturers, the Regional Indonesian Broadcasting Commission, journalist, and media activists in Palembang City. This study illustrates that the main agents behind progress in the field of media literacy in Palembang City are the government, the media, and scientists from colleges and schools. They contribute by providing education through teaching, outreach and broadcast programs aimed at improving the literacy skills of the people of Palembang City.
