Developing a Self-Exploration Book Using a Role-Playing Approach to Enhance Emotional Regulation in Early Adolescents
Abstract
This study developed a self-exploration book using role-playing techniques to improve early adolescents' emotion regulation. Emotion regulation refers to responding correctly to situations without letting emotions take over. The role-playing technique allows adolescents to understand better and address their emotional problems, identify related beliefs, and find the ideal solution. This study used a research and development method, with data collected through observation, questionnaires, and interviews. The book development process consists of seven stages: identification of potential problems, data and information collection, product design, design validation, design improvement, product trial, and product revision and trial use. The results showed that this book is effective in helping early adolescents manage emotions. This book targets three main aspects: cognitive, behavioral, and affective. Through role-playing, adolescents can develop the ability to recognize and respond to emotions more rationally and based on their environment.
