DISKURSUS PEMBERDAYAAN MASYARAKAT
Abstract
Empowerment is the antithesis of the concept and
implementation of community development that has
been developed in the third world (developing
countries), including Indonesia. The concept and
implementation of development that is top down and
makes economic growth as the orientation on
achieving a fair and equitable prosperity, has ignored
community participation and fostertered dependency.
Therefore, the empowerment that is people centered,
participative and sustainable, can be used as alternative
development model. And today empowerment as a
paradigm, concepts and practices has been an
interesting discourse among theorists and academics as
well as practitioners and common public.
