Strategies for Poverty Alleviation in South Lampung Regency

Abstract


Poverty is one of the complex and profound development issues in many countries. Government poverty alleviation programs aim to improve the quality of life of individuals and communities trapped in poverty conditions and to reduce the social and economic disparities that occur. According to the publication from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Lampung Province, the poverty rate in South Lampung Regency was 14.19 percent (in 2021), 13.14 percent (in 2022), and 12.79 percent (in 2023). This paper is written to identify the causes of the still high poverty rate in South Lampung Regency and to recommend policies to reduce poverty levels in South Lampung Regency. The conclusion of this paper is that the poverty alleviation program in South Lampung Regency is not yet significant enough to achieve the poverty reduction target outlined in the South Lampung Regency RPJMD Document for the years 2021 - 2026. The policy recommendation formulated is the need for education assistance and skills training for poor families
